Nobel Pursuits by Rosemarie Aquilina and Robert Leader
Nobel Pursuits by Rosemarie Aquilina and Robert Leader is a murder mystery that’s left behind the elements of gore and dark terror and replaced them with love and loyalty.
Steve Thurston’s path to receiving the Nobel Prize is
derailed when he learns one of his students, Hayden Becker, is found dead in
the university lab. Steve thought of Hayden as family, and they’d been working
alongside each other on Steve’s latest discovery – a possible cure for cancer.
Steve becomes extremely unsettled when Hayden’s death is initially
ruled a suicide. He sets aside his work, and possibly his chance to win the Nobel Prize, to find the truth. His wife Bel has a
medical background, and they combine their areas of expertise to assist the
police in solving the murder.
Steve’s unselfishness is one of the many things a woman can
appreciate about a man, and Bel is perfect for him. She’s sweet and always has
a listening ear ready to hear about his work and offer feedback and ideas.
She’s always – ALWAYS – got pastries, coffee, and wine ready to serve.
Steve and Bel truly see themselves as equals, as one. They
respect each other on the highest of levels, and it’s easy to see why Steve’s
students and other people in the community hold them in high regards.
Their love is so perfect and I kept waiting for one of them
to slip up. Spoiler alert – they don’t!
This book is as sweet as it is engaging, full of a cast of lovable
characters, and one I’d read over and over again.
