Colombian Chemistry (Elite Stealth Force Alpha #1) - Katherine Hastings

If you’re hunting for an action-packed romance story, look no further than Colombian Chemistry by Katherine Hastings.

Marcus retired from the Alpha team of Elite Stealth Force and the last thing he wants is to have his peaceful life by the crystal waters of the Caribbean interrupted by tourists – or anyone else. He enjoys his life of solitude and sunshine. He’s as sturdy as a brick wall from head to toe, and the only thing harder than his abs is his attitude. He has every survival skill one can imagine, he’s not afraid to kill if someone gets in his way and as for falling in love? Well, that’s never going to happen.

Irene is visiting her father in Colombia and finds herself in trouble after he goes missing. A Harvard scholar and chemist, who has never so much as hurt a fly, Irene is now the target of a drug cartel. She escapes them twice, with the help of Marcus, but now they’re back for round three.

She finally breaks him down with her begging to save her one last time, and though he wants nothing to do with it, Marcus accepts the mission - in exchange for fifty-thousand dollars and a promise she’ll get out of his hair once he gets her safely to the US Embassy in Bogotá.

No amount of survival training prepared Marcus for Irene’s constant whining about the rough ten-hour ride and her endless spouting off of facts about things he couldn’t care less about. It is enough to drive him crazy. As much as he’d love to leave her to survive on her own with nothing but her too-high IQ, he is a man of his word, especially when there’s a fifty-thousand-dollar prize waiting for him.

Marcus is a wise ass who is rough around the edges. He’s got a military background, weapons training and is part a team that will do anything to help each other, even if it means killing. Irene is young, beautiful, and naïve. She’s got no one but her father to count on and doesn’t take any risks at all, no matter how big or small.

Being complete opposites, Hastings takes Marcus and Irene on adventure that is hilarious, dangerous and frustrating all at the same time. I read through this novel rather quickly and enjoyed every twist and turn along the way. I’m looking forward to the next adventure in the Elite Stealth Force Alpha series.
