Everything but the Earl - Willa Ramsey
Everything but the Earl by Willa Ramsey is a romance novel that's perfect for the lover of happy endings.
Ramsey hands the lead role to Caroline Crispin, the daughter
of the most sought-after architect in London. Caro, as she’s called, is witty
and charming and has an independent, rebellious streak at least a mile long. She’s
comfortable with who she is, has no intention of ever getting married and proves
time after time she can do anything. But when Lords Chumsley and Strayeth make
a wager on who will bed Caro first, the task of salvaging her reputation proves
to be too much to do on her own.
Lucky for her, Adam Wexley, Earl of Ryland, is happy to step
in and help her with her plans for revenge. He is the brother of Caro’s best
friend and knows she isn’t who the lords have rumored her to be. His ability to think quickly and his strong, perfectly sculpted physique make him the perfect cohort. This might
also be his chance to prove to his mother that he is as much of a man as
his father was, despite having not followed in his footsteps and becoming a boxer.
But when Caro realizes her scheme might cost them both more
than they were prepared to lose, she reconsiders everything.
Ramsey’s writing style is elegant and sophisticated, and her
casting of a strong woman as the lead is refreshing. I enjoyed this novel
because it wasn’t too heavy and it made me feel good. I normally reach for
something that has a little more scandal and this was a nice change of pace.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel and am
voluntarily leaving a review.
