Beneath the Assassin's Touch - Katherine Hastings
Beneath the Assassin’s Touch is the second book in the
Daggers of Desire Series by Katherine Hastings and is a fabulous book! Hastings
introduced us to the main character Viktor in the first book and made him hard
to forget. I was stoked to find out he was the main character in book two, and
I was not disappointed!
Viktor calls in assassins John and Charlie, childhood
friends turned enemies turned lovers, to help with a mission. There’s a bounty
on someone’s head and they need to worm their way into Lord Rigley’s ball and
save the target.
It doesn’t take long for them to find her - the one and only
Baroness Nora Aberdeen. When they learn it’s her head on the line, Viktor
becomes even more excited by the mission at hand. She’s beautiful and he can’t
imagine why anyone would want to hurt her. And her husband is disgusting,
especially compared to Viktor. Sure, he’s a pirate and an assassin – not who
you want to take home to meet your parents. But beneath his chiseled, perfectly
tanned body lies a man. A real man.
With Nora now in his protection, they look for a place to
hide until they can find the person who’s after her. With John and Charlie on
his side, he expects the task to be a cinch. Hastings flips their expectations
upside down and takes them on an anything-but-easy journey.
Nora’s apprehension of being with a stranger, who she learns
is also a pirate and an assassin, shreds a piece at a time as she gets to know
him better. In addition to his fine physique, Hastings has blessed him with wit
and a kind heart that makes him absolutely irresistible.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would! Anyone
who enjoys a thrilling adventure and loves romance should read this book. And
yes, you can enjoy it on its own, but reading the first book really provides us
with a background of how Viktor, John and Charlie all came together.
